Plan of the “Conferences about the obsession with thinness”
General Objective :
To develop the ability to become a critical viewer of the unrealistic images portrayed in the media.
Specific Objectives :
1. To identify the social pressures underlying the pursuit for thinness;
2. To demonstrate how models depicted in the media are changed through computer airbrushing;
3. To illustrate how the social pressures for thinness affect the onset of eating disorders and body image dissatisfaction;
4. To discuss the impact of unhealthy eating habits during adolescence;
5. To illustrate the different social actions taken against the standards of beauty presented in the media.
